Irish Language Class and Activities

Sheep A: Ba mhaith liom bheith ag caint as Gaeilge le mo chairde.

(I'd like to be talking with friends in Irish.)

Sheep B: Maith go leor, mar sin. Tar in éineacht liom chuig Comhrá Gaeilge gach mí.

(Good, then. Come with me to Irish language Conversation every month.)

Irish language classes are held for 10 weeks in the Spring and Fall at Onondaga Free Library. The next class begins Wednesday, March 22, at Onondaga Free Library 6:30 PM

We have a monthly Conversation meeting on the second Saturday morning of the month to practice our language skills. Students of all levels are welcome to come and participate, or just listen until you're comfortable enough to start talking. We may use simple stories as topics of conversation.

Programs

Irish Way Program

This program of the National IACI allows high school and college students from the US and Canada to enjoy the rich heritage and tradition of Ireland while also experiencing the country’s distinct culture face-to-face. CNY-IACI provides modest financial support to local students who qualify for the program.

Irish Perception Series

This performance and lecture series, organized by the National office of the IACI, brings Irish artists and speakers to audiences throughout the USA. Participants include Irish scholars, craftsmen, musicians, authors, performers and actors.

The Irish Film Series

Break up a CNY winter with Dr. James MacKillop's popular 3-week series of irish films. Our host's depth of knowledge of all things Celtic, and especially films, enriches our understanding of the ones he shares with us.

Music Group - Lucht Ceoil

Do you like Irish Music? Join our music group's 1-2 fun sessions per month. Members sing and play whistle, low whistle, keyboard, guitar, bodhran, and mountain dulcimer.
